Description:

The underlying goal of the Handbook is to make space science education entertaining and informative. Featured are digital aerospace comics and downloadable movies including the first walk on the moon, planting the American flag on the moon, and releasing payload from the Space Shuttle.

A unique science fiction file teaches space technology using science fiction and comic book covers. By comparing and contrasting science fiction artists' concepts of space hardware with NASA spacecraft, students learn about aerospace science.

How You Can Use This Source:

  • Compare the space programs described in science fiction with present-day technology. Discuss scientific principles that are often violated in science fiction's "space."
  • View historic movies including mission launches and speeches from Presidents Kennedy and Bush.
  • Link mathematics into space with Space Math. Use problems and explanations of space math with students.
