Description:

Even if you're stuck in your hometown for the summer, you can take a virtual trip to the Grand Canyon. After your virtual tour guide points out the highlights of the park, you can learn about the park's history-starting 10,000 years ago! Explore the rock formations that make up the canyon and examine maps of the trails that wind through the park. If you are planning a visit to the canyon, you can find directions to the park and suggestions for visiting the park, including how to obtain a backcountry permit and how to be environmentally conscious during your trip.

How You Can Use This Source:

  • View pictures of the sweeping vistas and local wildlife in the photo gallery. It's almost like you had taken the pictures yourself (except that they're all labeled with the proper name of each plant or animal)!
  • Compare the weather conditions in the different parts of the canyon. Average high and low temperatures and amounts of precipitation are given in both English and metric units.
